Who We Are

At The Salvation Army, we are dedicated to Doing the Most Good. We are made up of thousands of officers, soldiers, staff, volunteers, donors, and partners working together to holistically meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our most vulnerable neighbors. We do this through programs designed to combat homelessness and hunger, provide safe spaces for individuals and families, and give hope to the hopeless. The Salvation Army of La Crosse County fosters growth of the mind, body, and spirit as we Journey Together.

The Salvation Army is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by U.S. law.

Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. It's message is based on the Bible. It's ministry is motivated by the love of God. It's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

How Volunteers Help

Volunteers are a crucial part of The Salvation Army. Without volunteers, we would not be able to effective run many of the programs and services offered here. Our volunteers run lunches for Feed The Kids, help sort donations at our Thrift Store (profits go right back in to the porgrams and services!), Back2School, fundraising and awareness events, serve meals for our meal program, and much much more! Bell Ringing is our biggest, most important upcoming need. Our Red Kettle Campaign is so important because it is what allows us to have programs and services.

Volunteers matter! You matter!!
