Volunteer: Game Room AssistantAssist Club Staff is supervision of the Game Room. Room had board games, pool, air hockey, fuse-ball and carpet ball. Engage with Club members, play games with them. Purpose: To aide the program staff in providing fun, safe, and challenging activities that instill a sense of competency, usefulness, belonging and influence. The Game Room Aide must: have safety in mind at all times; have the ability to mediate conflicts; have the ability to “play” with youth; have the ability to relate to youth the consequences of their decisions; and relate to staff what additional assistance, supplies, and guidelines are needed. We welcome help anytime we are open for Club members. They most helpful shifts are Monday - Friday from 3:45 p - 4:45 pm and/or 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm Children welcome with volunteers if they are age 7 or older. Volunteers must complete the required application and screening process, plus a transporter screening (assessment) for transporting wheelchair patients; also training for cart transportation. This assignment requires a considerable amount of physical stamina, as volunteers do a great deal of walking. The Dispatch/volunteer base: Hospital first floor in Patient Registration area; Service areas: Primarily between 3rd, 7th and 9th nursing units in the Hospital and ancillary service areas such as Radiology, Rehab Services, etc.; also the Clinic, Cancer and Surgery Center, Professional Arts building, St. Ann building, and Occupational Health building. DART Services are offered Monday thru Friday; 7:45 am – Noon; Noon – 4:00 pm; ideally, a team of 4 volunteers per shift.
